Cuesta College Police - San Luis Obispo County
The Cuesta College Police Department started as a security agency, and originally did not have any campus specific patches, just the two breast-tabs for "parking enforcement" and "security." The first issue shoulder patch, shown here, was adopted for security officers prior to the creation of a public safety department.
Before coming under POST supervision, the campus only had Public Safety Officers, who wore these patches along with metal "Public Safety Officer" badges.
After getting POST accreditation, the campus switched from a Public Safety to a full Police department. All officers, both sworn and PSO's, wore the same patches, but had different color uniforms to distinguish the ranks.
